9/13/2023 0 Comments Judicial consent movie castThe Air Nomads' rejection of jails and judicial systems was connected to their belief that giving a jailer power over a prisoner was an experience of power that not only harmed the prisoner, but could also corrupt the jailers if they found enjoyment in controlling others. Such measures were applied to all individuals who had killed, regardless of it having been done directly or indirectly. At the time, Air Nomads who had taken lives were generally considered impure and thus separated from the spiritually pure in all cultural aspects, including postmortem registers and records, with their names put into positions of lesser status. By the early 3rd century BG, they sidelined, shamed, and cast out the offenders instead of imprisoning or punishing them physically, if they had committed extreme harm against another living being. The Air Nomads were the most peaceful in the world and held life as generally sacred. A notable characteristic of their unique culture, Air Nomad civilization is the only nation not known to have a formalized judicial system.
